This is a fun, exciting introduction for our youngest dancers who are just developing their motor skills. Marching, gallops, jumps, twirls, wiggles, and giggles are all part of the fun. Students will develop coordination, musical awareness, and listening skills. Imagination and creativity are encouraged.
Offered in Ballet/Tap or Ballet/Jazz. These are introductory classes perfect for the young dancer who may want to try out two different genres. Class time is split in half to allow for two genres to be studied. Students will learn fundamental dance steps and develop basic choreography.
Ballet is the foundation of all dance genres and necessary to become a well trained dancer. Students will learn correct body alignment, posture, and correct classical ballet technique and terminology through standing barre work and center floor exercises. Emphasis is placed on flexibility, strength, musicality, and grace.
NOTE: Ballet Levels 2 and up, attend twice a week and have a Progressing Ballet Technique class.

Tap classes develop rhythm, style, and sound. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knees and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. Class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun.
Musical Theatre will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various styles of dance used in Broadway shows. Emphasis is placed on learning performance skills, improvisation, and musicality to tell the audience a story.
Students will work to increase extension, flexibility, turns with more precision and various leaps. Students will focus on a variety of leaps, jumps, chaines, pirouettes, fouettés, etc., appropriate for age and level. Leaps & turns assists students with more refined form and technical ability.
Lyrical dance combines elements of ballet and jazz to create a soft style that emphasizes the storytelling quality of music. Lyrical works with fluid movements and strengthening the emotional connection to the lyrics. Ballet is a strong prerequisite.
